When your Binder arrives... Flip through My Family Meeting Binder™ to get a preview of the sections. Read the BONUS report, How to Conduct Family Meetings in the Modern World”. |
Schedule a Kick-Off Meeting! Let your very first Family Meeting be termed an exciting “Kick-off Meeting”! This is a time where the family will celebrate the fact that you have launched scheduled Family Meetings. |
Complete your Family Profile! During your Kick-Off Meeting, complete your Family Profile. Your Family Profile is a place to record your family’s vision, motto, goals, team name, team colors, and more. This approach allows your family members to see the home as a place of teamwork and unity. You can revisit the profile before each family meeting – to ensure that you and your loved ones are on the same page and that you have fun! |
How to Conduct Family Meetings using My Family Meeting Binder™
1. |
Look at your Family Profile. Revisit your vision and mission statement. Feel free to wear hats or shirts depicting your family team name, team colors, and mascot! Make it a fun, team building experience! |
2. |
Use My Family Meeting Binder agendas and activities. Turn to any agenda that you would like to use for your Family Meeting. Click here to view a sample Family Meeting Agenda from My Family Meeting Binder™! · The upper right corner of each agenda/activity lists the category and age group of the agenda. · Select activities that are focused on the categories that you are interested in covering during the meeting. · You can also choose to create your own agenda using the blank Family Meeting agendas located in the binder. |
3. |
While conducting your Family Meeting, write down your Meeting Minutes (notes from your meeting) in the binder. · Note: You can revisit the meeting minutes to remind yourself and the family of discussions and decisions that you have made in prior Family Meetings. |
4. |
Assign Action Items in the binder. This is very helpful when you want to follow-up on a subject or assign a task to a family member. · For example: when discussing vacations, you may want a family member to check hotel prices of a desired vacation locale. You can assign that action item to the family member – and follow-up with them during the next Family Meeting. |
5. |
Optional – conduct an Open Floor discussion on any topic of interest. · We’ve included a BONUS list of thought-provoking questions in the Extras section of the binder. · The questions are sorted by category, and are helpful when starting an Open Floor discussion with your family. |
6. |
Close the meeting, and do a fun activity together to celebrate a successful meeting. |
